Joshua Boaz Pribanic (born 20 March 1982) is an American film director, editor, investigative reporter and founder of the investigative news non-profit, Public Herald. He’s best known for his award-winning documentary films on fracking, Triple Divide (c. 2013) and Triple Divide [Redacted] (c. 2017), and for his role as Editor-in-Chief and investigative journalist at Public Herald (cited in over 200 publications and over 20 academic studies). Pribanic’s 2020 documentary INVISIBLE HAND showcases “Rights of Nature” in America and will be his third film collaboration with actor Mark Ruffalo who’s signed on as an Executive Producer, and his third documentary with co-director Melissa Troutman.

Melissa A. Troutman –  Director/Editor/Producer/Writer

Melissa Troutman is a journalist, writer, editor and vocal artist. She began investigating shale gas extraction in 2010 as a newspaper reporter in her hometown of Coudersport, Pennsylvania before co-founding the investigative news nonprofit Public Herald, where she served as Executive Director from 2011-2018. Melissa’s award-winning works at Public Herald have had widespread coverage in environmental journalism, editorials and major news media, including NPR Marketplace, Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, The New York Times and Forbes. Melissa co-wrote, -directed and -edited the documentary Triple Divide (2013), which she also narrated with award-winning actor Mark Ruffalo. Troutman’s new documentary project INVISIBLE HAND premieres September 4th, 2020 and began with her first story about Rights of Nature in 2014.

Mark Ruffalo – Executive Producer

Mark Alan Ruffalo is an award-winning American actor, filmmaker, and advocate. He was part of the original cast of This Is Our Youth (1996), for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Following were his roles in 13 Going on 30 (2004), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Zodiac (2007), and What Doesn’t Kill You (2008). In 2010, he starred in the psychological thriller Shutter Island and the comedy-drama The Kids Are All Right. For the latter, he received nominations for the SAG Award, BAFTA Award, and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Ruffalo gained international prominence by portraying the Marvel Comics character Bruce Banner / Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (replacing Edward Norton, who headlined The Incredible Hulk, released in 2008), beginning with The Avengers (2012) and later reprising the role in Iron Man 3 (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and its untitled sequel (2019). (Source: Wikipedia)

Markie Miller – Toledoans for Safe Water

Markie Miller is a Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund-affiliated Toledoans for Safe Water organizer and petitioner behind the Lake Erie Bill of Rights. Markie received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology at University of Toledo. She also has a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Idaho.

Degawëno:da’s (he who thunderz) of the Wolf Clan – Seneca Nation of Indians, Defend Ohi:yo’

Degawëno:das floated the length of the Ohi:yo (Allegheny River) to raise awareness to Rights of Nature for the river and the systems harming the waterway in 2019. In 2018, Degawëno:das helped create Defend Ohi:yo’ — a water protector group — who defeated a fracking wastewater treatment plant project planned for Triple Divide in Potter County, Pa. which would have introducing radioactive materials to water upriver of the Seneca Nation of Indians. His story is layered within the Public Herald documentary, INVISIBLE HAND.
