TOLEDO, OH — Toledoans for Safe Water (TSW), the group behind the Lake Erie Bill of Rights (LEBOR), will host a FREE PRE-RELEASE screening of INVISIBLE HAND— the world’s first documentary about the creation of Rights of Nature on Sunday, January 19 at 3:30 PM at the Maumee Indoor Theatre (601 Conant Street, Maumee, OH 43537).

After the film, attendees are invited to stay for a Rights of Nature Q&A panel with lawyer, author, and activist Will Falk – who assisted in the rights of the Colorado River case, Ohio Organizer with the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, Tish O’Dell, and local activists and co-founder of Advocates for a Clean Lake Erie Mike Ferner.

INVISIBLE HAND, which is set to premiere March 20th in Pittsburgh, is produced by Mark Ruffalo and is the latest from Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman, award-winning directors who’ve followed the Pennsylvania community of Grant Township on a journey to protect itself against a toxic oil and gas waste facility that threatens their water supplies. To do so, the community passed a Home Rule Charter and granted Rights of Nature to their environment.

Director Joshua Pribanic of Public Herald Studios,  who grew up on the shores of Lake Erie, stated “who will speak for nature? This film is about fighting for democracy, about seeing the elephant in the room before a corporation takes over your town, your water, and your backyard.” Pribanic, who has followed the LEBOR effort closely, is standing strong with TSW in preparation for the upcoming federal court hearing on January 28th in Toledo.

The film screening is sponsored by Public Herald, Toledoans for Safe Water, and the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. This event is free and open to the public.
